“A person commits an offense if the person knowingly represents in a campaign communication that a candidate holds a public office that they do not,” Title 15 Chapter 255.006 Texas State Law
Suzanne Harp's campaign is in violation of Texas Election Law
Yes, sadly, this is true and is a pattern with the Harp campaign!
Title 15 Chapter 255 Sections 005 Misrepresentation & 006 Misleading use of office title both make it clear that a candidate who is not an incumbent must not present themselves as the current office holder.
Friends, this isn’t just unethical - it's criminal. One step below a state jail felony in fact.
“A person commits an offense if the person knowingly represents in a campaign communication that a candidate holds a public office that the candidate does not hold at the time the representation is made. For purposes of this section, a person represents that a candidate holds a public office that the candidate does not hold if: the political advertising or campaign communication states the public office sought but does not include the word "for" in to clarify that the candidate does not hold that office. An offense under this section is a Class A misdemeanor.”
The Harp campaign approved and paid for signs that are illegal.
How can voters trust her to write the laws if she can’t even follow the laws that are already written?
I wish it weren’t true but this is become a pattern with the Harp campaign.
The Harp campaign has run afoul of laws passed to regulate campaigns before. More to come on past campaign violations from Suzanne for Congress.
It’s time to honor the legacy of what our congressional district was like, not disgrace it by running a campaign that doesn’t follow the law.
